Datornätverket på Elarm
Under Elarm erbjuder vi nätverksanslutning för Internetanslutning till alla företag som har begärt det. Vi kommer naturligtvis att göra vårt bästa för att allt ska fungera, men tänk på att ni inte bör basera hela er presentation på att det finns tillgång till Internet, eftersom oförutsedda problem kan uppstå.
Här är lite hjälp på vägen för att ni så smidigt som möjligt ska kunna koppla upp era datorer mot Internet under Elarm.
Vi kommer att erbjuda ett 10 Mbit/s nätverk av typen 10Base-T, dvs partvinnad kabel med modularkontakter. Detta är den vanligaste typen som används av nätverkskort i moderna datorer.
För att allt ska gå så smidigt som möjligt är det bra om ni kontrollerar ett par saker innan ni kommer till Elarm:
- Kontrollera att datorn har ett nätverkskort som klarar 10Base-T.
- Kontrollera att datorn kan hämta konfiguration via DHCP.
DHCP
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) är ett protokoll för att konfigurera en dator automatiskt när den ansluts till ett nätverk, så att den känner till bl a sin IP-adress och gateway. Stöd för DHCP installeras normalt tillsammans med operativsystemet.
Ställa in datorn
Gör så här för att ställa in datorn så att den kopplar upp sig via nätverket och använder DHCP:
Windows 95/98
Högerklicka på "Network neighborhood" på skrivbordet och välj "Properties". Gå till fliken "Configuration". Markera "TCP/IP" och klicka på "Properties". Under fliken "IP address" välj "Obtain an IP address
automatically". Under fliken "WINS configuration" välj "Use DHCP for WINS
resolution". Starta om datorn.
Windows NT
Högerklicka på "Network Neighborhood" på skrivbordet och välj "Properties". Gå till fliken "Protocols". Markera "TCP/IP" och klicka på "Properties". Under fliken "IP address" välj "Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server". Starta om datorn.
Medtag administratörslösenordet för datorn och gärna även installations-CDn
Mac OS
Välj "TCP/IP" under "Inställningar" i Apple-menyn. Välj "Ethernet" vid "Anslut via:" och "Använder DHCP-server" vid "Konfigurera:". Stäng fönstret och svara "Ja" på frågan om du vill spara konfigurationen.
Linux
Logga in som root och kör /sbin/dhcpcd. Detta förutsätter att Ethernetinterfacet redan är konfigurerat.
