Timetable

week:task:
25 Start at Ericsson and begin a discussion about the topic with advisor.
26 Looking at existing parts, aming at an understanding of the needs. Meeting with academic and industrial advisors.
29 Working with XML, looking at examples and evaluating techniques. Building small prototype, that parses XML and executes shell commands, to get acquainted with environment. Meeting with academic advisor.
31 Modelling test cases in XML, how general should the description be? Storing XML data in a relational database?
32 Working on overall system design, how should communication between the different systems be handled.
33 Working on overall system design, in what extent is it possible/necessary to adapt existing systems.
34 Looking at how start and configuration instructions should be modelled in XML to enable automatic execution of a test case.
35 Looking at how the results of a specific test can be evaluated "automatically" by the prototype and how these results should be presented to the user.
36 Building prototype, stage I: processing test cases modelled in XML.
37 Building prototype, stage II: interfacing one selected system, feeding it with test instructions.
38 Testing and evaluation of results from test of prototype. Start working on report.
39 Revise and possibly extend test case model. Work on report.
40 Looking at the possibility of controlling other systems from the prototype, including start and configuration instructions in the test case modelled in XML. Aim is to enable batch processing of test cases.
41 Building prototype, stage III: starting and controlling existing system from prototype.
42 Testing and evaluation of results from test of prototype. Incorporate results into report.
43 Building prototype, stage IV: interfacing a second system, feeding it with test instructions.
44 Evaluate results and make conclusions concerning futher development of prototype.
45 Writing report.
46 Writing report.
47 Presentation.

Note that the total amount of time assigned to writing the report is four weeks since weeks 38, 39 and 42 have time allocated for report writing.

Report

The report will be written continously during the project, these are the soft deadlines for different parts of the report.

task:deadline:
Background/problem definition week 35
XML week 39
System overview/design week 43
Model of evaluation week 45
